By law every vehicle in Canada must be insured. If you are caught driving a vehicle that does not have valid vehicle insurance, three things can happen. You can get fined, and the fines are stiff from $5,000 to $50,000. You can get your driver’s license suspended or the vehicle can be impounded. Car insurance Canada is a legal requirement. So if you are buying a car make sure you get it insured. Now there are three sources from where you can get vehicle insurance in Canada. One is from an insurance broker, the other is from an insurance agent and the third is from a direct writer. If you are getting car insurance from an insurance broker or agent, make sure that they are authorised to sell insurance. There are different types of car insurances that you can get in Canada. There is third party liability coverage, statutory accident coverage, and direct compensation.

You will have to decide what type of car insurance you want and how much are you willing to pay for it. Always get quotes from at least three insurance companies and then compare the extent of coverage offered and charges. You can always get the coverage amount increased if you want too. But remember you cannot drive a vehicle that is not insured in Canada.

Among all other life insurance policies, Term life insurance is recognized as the cheapest choice. By following the tips stated below, you will find a term life insurance even cheaper than you might have expected.

Price Negotiation

Generally when negotiation comes to mass people, they tend to think of yard or cars sales and not many people realizes that term life insurance quotes are also negotiable.

Get bigger to save money

The rates and other terms of a life insurance policy is set in such a way that considering a slightly bigger policy can essentially cost you less.

Don’t depend only on an Employer’s life insurance program

There are many companies offering term life insurance coverage as an additional job benefit. You can keep the policy anyway, but you should look out for another policy that will suit your requirements best.

Consider your Health Issues

If you have serious health issues for which you might be quoted higher life insurance rates, you don’t need to be discouraged since there are many other companies who will not totally spike your annual premiums. The deception is to find such agencies.

Background Checks for Your Safety

For anyone in specific industries wanting to employ people, a background check can be a lifesaver. Sometimes it is essential and even mandatory; other times it is purely a good measure to check into someone’s history to ensure there’s nothing there that could cause an issue in the future. For employers in areas such as childcare or schooling, a criminal check is mandatory for prospective employees. The checks will look into any potential records to do with offenses against children or regarding assault, drugs and/or alcohol and other crimes of that nature. It’s simply not enough to trust someone to tick the correct box regarding criminal history on an employment application form. A criminal background check for other areas of employment may be helpful if the applicant will be handling money, or if they will be placed in a position of trust (for example dealing with sensitive documents or items, or being entrusted with valuables, such as in a bank). There would be nothing worse than not completing a background check (particularly into criminal histories) and then later on paying the consequences by way of having items stolen, sold or worse. A check into someone’s background could, literally, be a lifesaver.

What Are Various Option in Term Life Insurance?

When taking out life insurance there are so many options that it can become confusing. Some people prefer going for whole life insurance but I decided to go with term life insurance. The reason I went with term life insurance was that, if I died during the term of the insurance my family would get the amount I was covered for. In case I remained hail and hearty I would get the amount at the end of the term. My reasoning for getting term life insurance was very simple. After retirement I may not be able to afford to pay the premium for a whole life insurance. Besides if I wanted to I could at any point get my term life insurance converted to whole life insurance. I got life insurance quotes for both the insurance types and where as the term life insurance quotes were higher then those for whole life I went for it.

Taking out life insurance and the type of insurance that you want is a personal choice. Also the additional cover that you want in your life insurance policy is up to you. One piece of advice, when shopping for life insurance, carefully read what all the insurance company is offering.

How To Find Affordable Health Insurance

Wed, Feb 18, 2009

Just like buying life insurance, it is not difficult to find affordable Health Insurance if you do your research and know where to look. You can do a lot of the research online, find a friend of sites that will inform you about the company’s and policies available, get insurance quotes and get more information about the kind of policy that would be best for your needs.

The most basic plans are often the cheapest, however make sure that the plan you’re getting covers you completely and fulfills all your needs. For example if you have a particular health condition make sure that you get a Health Care plan that will cover you in case you need to be hospitalized to treat it.

One way to save money is to see if you can buy a bundled package for your family’s insurance instead of buying individual insurance policies for everyone. In some cases this is cheaper however make sure that your research this because in some cases bundled packages are more expensive.

You can also consider having a slightly higher deductible if you were generally healthy. A plan with a higher deductible has lower monthly payments, although it will cost you slightly more to go to the hospital if you get sick. However, a healthy person will need to go to a doctor less, so you will eventually save money.

Finally, you can break your premium down into monthly or annual payments. You can choose either depending on your cash flows.

Making A Claim On Your Car Insurance

If you’re unfortunate enough to have an accident in your vehicle, the first thing NOT to do is panic. Easier said than done I know. Lots of people who have accidents in their cars get panicked into admitting liability at the scene or in some cases, the exact opposite, losing their temper and blaming the other driver. This is extremely common and both of these options are completely the wrong way to go about it. If you have an accident, first, go home and then call your car insurance company. Tell them exactly what has happened and they will no doubt advise on who is liable for the accident. If it’s your fault and you’re covered with comprehensive insurance - do not be scared to make a claim. You pay for your car insurance, it is your right to claim if you pay for that cover. If the fault lies with the driver of the other vehicle, your insurance firm will most likely begin proceedings to establish liability (get them to admit they were at fault) and ultimately claim back the funds for a replacement vehicle and any compensation you’re entitled to. Remember, stay calm, don’t over react at the scene and let your car insurance company handle it all.

Getting Insurance For Your Bike

Sat, Jan 31, 2009

Finding insurance for your bike or motorcycle these days is just as easy as a car. Near enough all of the vehicle insurers out there will offer car and bike insurance, but if you want a really good deal on bike insurance, you should speak to a dedicated motorcycle insurer. Whether these firms know the market better or can get a better deal when it comes to repairs for your bike isn’t know, but if you ask most experienced bikers who they insure with, they will near enough always reel off the name of a dedicated motorcycle insurer.

But with that said, it does pay to shop around. You will never receive the same price / policy from two different insurers after you have given them your details and policy requests. Most insurers have completely different ways of scoring and evaluating insurance requests via their quotation systems and you will often find that even the commonly cheaper insurance brokers may throw out the odd high price. If you don’t shop around, you won’t know what the best price to pay is. My advice is to call a few companies. Use a mix of the major vehicle insurers and specialist bike insurance firms and see what works out best for you.

The Rush

Even thought the tickets for Reading are available in advance, we have to be careful not to buy these from certain people like the blatant tout internet sites that are likely to filch away the money from you. By the time the Reading Festival 2009 will begin, they will be drinking margaritas off the coast of the Caribbean Sea at your expense.

Therefore read all the Reading Festival Info properly before buying tickets from these sites. Some tips to avoid getting scammed are:

Always buy from official places like the Ticketmaster and Ticketline.

The HMV outlets will have authentic tickets. So try to verify the detailed list of outlets and don’t forget to check their official website.

There are many websites that try to look official. Be careful and do not purchase the tickets from there. Try to see if the website has good Google page ranking – a page rank of 5 will be good enough.

Don’t let the rush for tickets get the better of your common sense.

Claiming on a General Insurance Policy

Wed, Dec 10, 2008

Each time I write on the topic of general insurance, I talk about the types, differences, and applications that general insurance cover will have for a particular individual. This time, I thought I would change suit, and discuss the practical aspect of general insurance - making a claim. Of course, holding a general insurance policy entitles you to recover any expenses which may relate to a particular unfortunate situation which arose. So, if and when this time comes, the next step in the process is to file a claim form.

Generally, for general insurance anyway, the claim form will be only a few pages in length. This is to make the process as quick and efficient as possible. As a piece of advice, you should contact your general insurance provider as soon as possible after the damage or loss of your assets have taken place, so they can keep track of everything in their system. Indeed, once you have completed the claim form and sent it back in to your general insurance provider, they will review and assess whether you have a viable claim. If so, the goods will be replaced or money will be paid to you in order to replace them yourself.
